- Orthopaedic Surgery
Dr. Ananth Eleswarapu joins the University of Miami as full-time faculty in orthopedic spine surgery. He is one of a select few spine surgeons trained to provide care for both adult and pediatric spine patients.
Originally from the Northeast, Dr. Eleswarapu attended college at Columbia University and medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. During medical school he completed a one-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in orthopaedic oncology. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Chicago and a fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery at the University of California Davis.
Dr. Eleswarapu (or “Dr. E” as many of our nurses have nicknamed him) works closely with his colleagues in physical medicine, pain management, rheumatology, and sports medicine. He recommends a non-surgical treatment course in over 90% of new patient visits. When surgery is the best option, the goal is to perform it in the safest, least invasive manner possible. In all cases, surgical and non-surgical, Dr. Eleswarapu strives to treat every patient with dignity and respect, as if they were his own family.
In his free time, Dr. Eleswarapu enjoys spending time with his wife, Tina, and exploring his new home here in South Florida. He considers it the ultimate privilege to provide care for spine patients and their families.
