The 2nd Dolphins Cycling Challenge Doubles Ridership To Raise Money for Sylvester

More than 860 cyclists, including over 160 children and 21 cancer survivors, rode various events across three counties to take part in the 2nd Annual Dolphins Cycling Challenge (DCC) on November 5th and 6th to raise money for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The two-day event featured a kids’ ride and six different routes from 30 to 170 miles that went through 37 cities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

UM Study Shows MR Scans Do Not Harm Patients with ICD Devices

A study by Miller School researchers of patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) devices has demonstrated that even multiple cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) scans did not adversely affect the health of the patient or function of the devices. The findings have important clinical implications, since most patients with ICD and other cardiac devices have been instructed never to have an MR scan.

Sylvester’s Kendall Director Newest UHealth “Fire Starter”

Nobody likes chemotherapy, but patient Joaquin Hernandez is grateful he receives the treatment at Sylvester’s Comprehensive Treatment Center in Kendall. “If you have to come, this is where you want to come,’’ Hernandez said. “The service is great. The nurses are the best.’’ His sentiment is shared by so many of the Kendall satellite’s patients that the unit has earned the highest patient satisfaction scores.
