Plastic Surgery Patient Information

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The term “plastic” comes from the Greek language and it means to give shape.

Plastic Surgery can be divided into two major groups:

  • Reconstructive Plastic Surgery is used to repair or restore main functions of parts of the body due to damaged caused by lesions (burns, accidents, skin diseases, skin tumors, congenital abnormalities, etc.)
  • Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery – Although both are intimately related, this area is basically geared to correct the aesthetic part of the body with the purpose of enhancing its physical appearance, creating a difference and making the patient feel happy and more confident.
