Ty Subhawong, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Ty Subhawong joined the University of Miami Musculoskeletal Radiology Section in July 2012.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2002, and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University in 2006. He did a medical internship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed radiology residency at the John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. During his residency, Dr. Subhawong trained as a Clinician Scientist in Imaging Research under an NIH grant from July 2009-June 2010. He completed his one year fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in June 2012.

In addition to his clinical, academic and leadership roles, Dr. Subhawong has currently published 25 articles the areas of musculoskeletal radiology. Dr. Subhawong’s works also include 9 scientific and educational which have been presented at various national meetings. He received a certificate of merit for an educational exhibit at the RSNA in 2010 and a Roentgen Resident Award in 2011. He also received the ARRS Cum Laude Award for a scientific exhibit on tumor imaging in May 2011.

Dr. Subhawong holds memberships with the Society of Skeletal Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and The American College of Radiology.  His research interests include musculoskeletal tumor, peripheral nerve, and cartilage imaging.
