What is “U”Shine
The University of Miami Hospital is pleased to announce the new employee recognition program that illuminate the many “Shining Stars” of our organization. The “U”Shine program is a method to reward the employees who continuously exhibit the desirable behaviors of:
Positive “can do” attitude
Courteous and friendly
Taking the extra step (going above and beyond expectations)
One point will be awarded for every nomination or comment card that is completed. If an employee is mentioned on a HCAPS or Press Ganey report then they will receive 2 points for that encounter.
Directors, supervisors, and staff will complete the “U”Shine nomination online (UMH Intranet) or comment card. Any staff or management personal can complete a nomination based on a patient or families comment about another staff member.
This comprehensive program will allow UMH administration to thank the many employees who exhibit the qualities that make UMH the Best University Teaching Hospital in the World by providing exceptional patient care by highly skilled employees.
The goal is to achieve a cumulative “5” POINTS to earn a “U”Shine recognition. The committee will notify the unit Director/Manager of achievements on a monthly basis. The staff member will be awarded the following:
One food voucher
Pen & Pad
Picture and story posted on individual unit or department bulletin board
Recognition in shift huddle
For 2nd – “5” points earned – the following will be awarded
“U”Shine badge buddy / “U”Shine umbrella
Entered into raffle for gift card
For 3rd – “5” points earned – the following will be awarded
Entered into raffle for high end electronic
For 4th – “5” points earned – the following will be awarded
Picture on “U”Shine intranet “Wall of Fame” page
Those achieving “U”Shine recognition will be included in the quarterly luncheon. For every “5” points earned – the employees name will be entered into a monthly drawing to receive FREE VALET for one month. Their picture & profile will be included in the quarterly forums.
